Demonstrates ability to interact with physicians, nurse practitioners, employees and patients with respect, dignity, patience and efficiency.
Maintains confidentiality at all times.
Pay
Medical Assistant I $16.00-$20.00
Medical Assistant II $20.00-$23.00
- Provide general clinical care to patients, escort patients to exam rooms and assist in patient flow.
- Provide clear and concise history and/or chief complaint for the medical record.
- Perform injections according to written medical guidelines and physician’s orders. Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed.
- Observe patient, record and report significant conditions and reactions, notify physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents.
- Prepare & stock rooms, sterilize instruments, equipment and supplies according to OSHA guidelines.
- Keep medical records in order, document in medical record according to prevailing guidelines; ensure that lab reports, x-rays and other reports are placed properly in the patient’s record.
- Check physician schedules, assist receptionist with patient scheduling. Maintain a timely flow of patients.
- Take telephone messages as directed, screen patient calls for appropriate information for physicians. Provide physician approved instructions to patients. Refill pharmacy requests as directed by physicians/nurse practitioner.
- Label and maintain proper storage for specimens and tests and obtain results.
- Schedule test, testing procedures and refer patients appropriately according to physician orders.
